Bird food: soft fruit

Raisins and sultanas are an ideal food  for a number of species of bird.  They do attract more than just birds however as hedgehogs, badgers and squirrels also love them.

In summer, it is agood idea to soak the fruit in water first which will give the birds an added source of water at the same time as eating.  Feed dried fruit little and often in order to make sure the food is continually fresh.

Generally, sultanas and raisins sold for birdfood are not to be used for human consumption.
