| Artemisia vulgaris 'Oriental Limelight' (Artemisia 'Oriental Limelight')HistoryThis plant is part of the Aster family and is native to Europe and North Africa, parts of Iran and even Siberia. PlantingDig a hole large enough for the root ball, loosen the soil at the bottom and mix in compost or well rotted organic material. Place the plant so that the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface, backfill, firm in carefully around the roots and water in well. This will ensure good soil and root contact, stability in windy conditions and a good start for the plant. PropagationIn late spring divide rhizomes, bulbs, corms or take herbaceous stem cuttings. CultivationThis plant will grow in most soils but good drainage is important as the plant is susceptible to root rot in damp or soggy conditions. Water requirements are low to medium and it prefers full sun or partial shade. AftercareNo feeding is required on a reasonably fertile soil but a thin layer of mulch will help retain moisture in the soil. If it becomes a little woody or spindly cut it back to rejuvinate the plant and create a bushier appearance. Shoot tips can also be removed to encourage a bushier plant. PestsBlackfly DiseasesTrouble free Poisonous characteristicsHandling of the leaves and contact with the pollen may cause an allergic reaction or skin irritation.
