Rear garden, Bolton

The brief for this garden was to create a garden which would be formal and for eating whilst also allowing the children to play in a part of the garden full of trees (all with TPO's) and overgrown with Rhododendrons.

An elegant hardwood deck was added around the rear of the house in order to raise the patio height and bespoke cut steps from sandstone were added to provide a sweeping entrance to the seating area below. The steps were set into the decking at the top and also into the stone at the bottom to emphasise how many steps there are. Raised beds with rendered walls were added to enable formal planting to the space.

The rhododendrons were removed from the back part of the space, a new pathway was added in bark mulch and contained with logs on end. A rustic gazebo built of western red cedar with cedar and hnd split shingles for a roof was added to enable the adults to have a space to keep an eye on the children playing.
