Deakins Park, Bolton

The inspiration for the garden spaces at Deakins Park came from how I would want to use my own garden.  My ethos on gardens comes from the idea that these spaces are not isolated but extensions to the house with areas to cook, eat, entertain and relax as well as having planting to attract the eye.  These spaces can be used in exactly the same way as a living room, kitchen and lounge area, but using the sky and surrounding environment as wallpaper.

Modern people live busy lives and want to have an escape from the hassles of the day, kick their shoes off and relax with a drink or newspaper.  Where better to do that weather permitting than out in the garden.

Gardens need to have something to catch the eye, to tempt you out through the door and then once out, be interesting enough to make you feel you want to stay out there.

These contemporary spaces are designed to be practical and aesthetic to the eye.  They are spaces which may be used at any time of day, but with special emphasis for evening use as all the gardens are stunningly lit in various ways.  For example, table light gel burners, deck inlaid lights, step lights and braziers giving off flickering flames all enable a variety of moods to be created.  They may even be used to light the garden so it can be enjoyed as a piece of sculpture in winter months whilst sitting comfortably warm inside.
