Side Garden: Knutsford

The brief for this garden was to modernise the space but incorporate the existing Acer into the design. The lawn path down the side of the house was not growing particularly well due to mature trees casting shadows onto it.

The resulting design incorporated a custom cut offset stone path in a triangular shape from the house to front and rear gardens. Planting was simplified with evergreen and deciduous ferns making the acer a focal point. Lighting was added to the space to highlight the tree both in full leaf and in skeleton form in winter.

The garage wall which was covered in ivy had a commissioned acer leaf sculpture attached giving increased winter interest and floodlit in winter to provide a stunning focal point.
