Shrubs

A shrub is a perennial woody plant which differs from a tree by the fact that it grows multiple stems from the base rather than one stem (trunk) and grows to a far lower final height than a tree.  They can be deciduous or evergreen plants.

Some plants can either be classed as trees or shrubs depending on the conditions they are growing in and they way that they are pruned.

Examples of shrubs are Lavandula (Lavender), Ilex (Holly) and Rosa (Rose).
