The Silver Zebra - Deborah Moses

Deborah Moses is one of the UK's most experimental & contemporary fused glass designers. She started her artistic career after studying glass fusion in Both London & Bristol. Deborah isn't new to glass, as her family have a long history in both commercial and art glass. Her innovative designs have both movement and a soft but contemporary structured nature about them, with her inspirations coming from music, water, ice and rock formation's as well as her Cheshire surroundings. Deborah's glass fusion designs & techniques are ever evolving! . . .

Commissions are welcome, Deborah offers a full design service from initial sketches and glass samples to on site installation. She pays attention to detail in all sectors inc commercial, corporate and private clients as well as interior designers.
 

Glass fusion
 
The fusing technique that Deborah uses, and developed during her studies, involves incorporating organic elements, and an eclectic mix of other materials, into the glass together with various metal powders, leaf, oxides and enamels. These are then taken to temperatures of approximately 850 degrees centigrade in a kiln where they melt together to form one piece. Every desired colour and effect involves a large amount of testing and experimentation to ensure the desired outcome.

Please note: Deborah does not use plaster moulds. She hand carves each mould from a formulated kiln paper, which then brakes down in the firing process. Even though she can replicate designs each one will have it's own unique qualities because of Deborah's methods.
